Analytics Leadership Presentation at Alteryx Inspire 2022

I’m an Alteryx Innovator, one of the elite advocates of the Alteryx platform who are recognized for leading analytics innovation at their organizations through the platform. As part of that group, I recently was invited to speak at Alteryx Inspire 2022 on the topic of Transform: Moving from Superuser to Super Leader. Not only was I able to speak at the live session, but I also was selected as one of only twenty individuals to record and present virtually.

The session was designed especially for individual contributors who are thinking about the possibility of moving into people leadership. Across the session, we discussed my journey in analytics and Alteryx, some of the ways Alteryx prepares a person for people leadership as well as ways it doesn’t prepare a person, how to assess whether people leadership is right for each person, important focuses in leadership prep (including behaviors to practice), and areas where a person must invest to advance upward into people leadership. I ended on a fact that I recently discovered–according to McKinsey, there will be a shortage of 190,000 analytics professionals in the United States by 2028. Naturally, people leaders are a part of that shortage. For those who have a great fit in analytics people leadership, there will be a highly needed place in the job market.

The in-person session was almost completely full (100-150 people). Even better, I received a lot of positive feedback, including a high honor of being mentioned in the same sentence with luminaries Alexis Ohanian and Emma Gilmour as a small set of speakers discussing the intersection of analytics and leadership. Thanks to the good folks at Alteryx for this opportunity to share my analytics and leadership expertise with so many passionate, like-minded professionals.
